The UAA/APU Consortium Library is looking for a Circulation Clerk to join our team.
The Circulation Department at the Consortium Library is responsible for the maintenance of the collection for public access, circulation materials into and out of the library, and providing a first point of contact for general patron questions. Circulation workers perform a variety of tasks necessary to circulate and manage the collections at the library. They are responsible for opening and closing the library, checking material in and out of the library, and collecting fines on overdue materials. In addition, circulation workers provide a wide series of services aimed at helping patrons with general library services.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Attention to detail, accuracy, basic computer skills, communication, interpersonal
skills, organization. Moderate math and English language skills are essential to this
position for organizing materials, discernment of discrepancies in records, and understanding
of library bibliographic standards.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
One year relevant experience in a library, or an equivalent combination of training
and experience.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Customer service experience. Cash register experience. Experience with library computer
systems.
