Nine Seawolves recognized for academic excellence

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 20) – A record nine Alaska Anchorage players were honored this
week as the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its 2021-22 NABC Honors Court list for outstanding academic performance.
The Seawolves’ nine selections were the most of any team in the Great Northwest Athletic
Conference and tied with Fresno Pacific for the most by an NCAA Div. II West Region
program, led by Keegan Crosby (journalism and public communications), Tobin Karlberg (journalism and public communications), Caleb Larsen (journalism and public communications), David Riley (journalism and public communications) and Hunter Sweet (management) – all of whom earned their degrees in in May.
UAA’s AJ Garrity (biological sciences), David Rowlands (journalism and public communications), Tyson Gilbert (journalism and public communications) and Vojtech Ruzek (business) also picked up the honor, which is awarded to players with junior or senior
academic standing and a minimum 3.20 overall grade point average.
In addition to the individual awards, UAA was also recognized among the approximately
300 institutional recipients of the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
