Consistent with CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated University of Alaska employees, contractors, students and visitors will no longer be required to wear masks. This change is effective Monday, May 24. People who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear a mask while on university property, at university field sites, and in university vehicles. Unvaccinated individuals do not need to be masked when they are inside a private on-campus residential unit or as allowed by campus-specific exemptions.

The Alaska Run for Women unites thousands of women from all over Alaska and beyond in one of the largest all-women runs in the country. The mission of AKRFW is "to raise money for and awareness of breast cancer and women’s health, and to showcase the talents of Alaska’s women athletes". The AKRFW is a virtual 5-mile or 1-mile race that you can run or walk from any location you choose at any time during the event week of June 12-19, 2021. Your choice, your time, your race. Join us for the 2021 UAA Summer Health Challenge! Sign up as an individual, UAA department/office, and student organization or club! Participants will record their steps as individuals or teams on their step trackers of choice! And at the end of the summer (July 31st), the most fit UAA office, department, or committee will win the coveted UAA Summer Health Challenge Trophy, while the most fit student organization or club will win $300 toward their organization accounts.

UAA's Department of Residence Life is now recruiting for our Alaska Native, Indigenous, and Rural Outreach Program Coordinator. The Department of Residence Life at the University of Alaska Anchorage provides students with a living and learning environment that supports the academic experience. The Alaska Native, Indigenous, and Rural Outreach Program (ANIROP) Coordinator plays a vital role in welcoming and supporting our Alaska Native and Indigenous residents, as well as residents from rural areas.

Faculty and staff are preparing for in-person operations this fall. Employees will begin returning to on-campus work in late May and June. Some functions and activities will be available to students currently taking summer courses. On Aug. 2, the Anchorage campus will open to all faculty, staff and students.
