Experience the Outdoors Series: Snowshoeing Saturday, March 25, noon Glen Alps Trailhead ($5 parking fee)

The UAA Employee Wellness program is now offering outdoor recreation activities. Just like our campus-wide wellness breaks, the outdoor recreation activities will be student-led, free and open to all university employees. Students enrolled in PEP 264 - Recreation Program Planning and Evaluation will gain experience in leading activities learned in their courses, as well as provide opportunities for UAA employees and their families to improve their health and social wellness through outdoor recreational activities.

Join HPER students Seth and Trevor to experience the beauty and challenge of snowshoeing in Powerline Pass. Meet at the Glen Alps Trailhead on Saturday, March 25, at noon. All experience levels-from beginner to total pro-are welcome. Family and friends are also welcome to attend. You must sign up by Friday, March 24.

Gear will not be provided at the event. For those who don't have their own gear, check out the Gear Room in the Student Union to rent snowshoes and trekking poles.

RSVP by Friday, March 24. Email Seth at sjboegel@alaska.edu with the number of people you are bringing and the ages of everyone in your group. To cancel, call Seth Boegel at (907) 782-6130.

Snowshoeing this weekend can count toward your Healthyroads Time to Move Step Challenge. Snowshoeing averages about 181 steps per minute.
