University Advancement is seeking a primary staff support administrative assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Associate Vice Chancellor for Development. Additionally as the primary traffic manager for University Advancement this position will have a high level of organizational oversight of the tactical execution of all projects in development, alumni relations and university relations, ensuring clear communication of goals, objectives and timeline of projects. This position will work with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development to manage annual fundraising goals and strategy and coordinate workplace safety.

The Academic Computing, Distance Learning, Instructional Technology, and eLearning (ACDLITe) Committee invites you to attend the 2021 eLearning Luncheon of Friday, Feb. 26, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. For over a decade, this luncheon has been dedicated to introducing exciting and cutting-edge faculty initiatives to support student learning at UAA.

UAA music faculty member Dr. Armin Abdihodzic presents an online concert sponsored by the University of Memphis Classical Guitar Society. The concert was prerecorded in the UAA Recital Hall at the beginning of February and premiered on YouTube on Feb. 13. This concert includes 20th century works written for classical guitar which Dr. Abdihodzic recorded last Summer on his fourth CD.

This May 15-18 will mark the return of the Kachemak Bay Writers’ Conference after a year’s hiatus. For nineteen years, the conference has brought together hundreds of writers from around the state and the country to learn from nationally-renowned faculty. Due to COVID-19 mandates, this year’s conference will be entirely virtual. The Center for Human Development is recruiting individuals with FASD age 18+ and/or parents/guardians of a student with FASD to participate in a group discussion about their experiences with public education in Alaska. These discussions will, help make recommendations for changes in the educational system to support students with FASD. All discussion will be using Zoom.

Come join the Master of Public Administration and Public Policy department in discussing the policy, social, economical and administrative implications and predictions of the new Biden Harris administration. The event is in two sessions, with three professors discussing a topic related to the new administration in each session. This is the second of the two events series with Dr. Greg Protasel, Dr. Diane Hirshberg and Dr. Alex James presenting.

A 12-month diabetes prevention program offered by Zoom begins in March. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention developed the program, which is offered by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service. It is geared to individuals who are at risk of developing Type-2 diabetes. According to the CDC, one in three Americans has prediabetes, and excess weight is a key risk factor.

UAA Information Technology Services is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Network Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a solid background with a wide variety of Cisco routing, switching, security and wireless products. The proposed curriculum development may apply to any UA course or program for which the inclusion of biomedical and health topics is appropriate.
