UAA's Archives and Special Collections receives SHRAB Award for '64 Earthquake project

UAA's Archives and Special Collections won an award for archival excellence from the Alaska State Historical Records Advisory for its Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964 portal. The award, one of two for archival excellence, was announced at the banquet for the Alaska Historical Society/Museums Alaska annual joint meeting, held this year in Haines Sept. 25-28.

Special congratulations go to Arlene Schmuland, head of Archives and Special Collections, and the project archivist, Michael Catoggio, who is a retired UAA/APU Consortium Library librarian and came back on board to do the yearlong project.
