The University of Alaska Foundation is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence.

The purpose of the prize is to recognize and reward an individual who has demonstrated excellence in support of the University of Alaska. Any individual, regardless of university affiliation, is eligible for nomination for the prize, which carries with it a $15,000 award for the recipient. The selection committee will base its decision primarily on two criteria:

  • The extent to which the individual demonstrates a specific, definable, notable accomplishment that benefits the university (establishment of an academic or administrative program, development of a course, successful completion of a project, achievement of a research discovery, provision of a needed university or public service, achievement of national recognition, etc.); and
  • The extent to which the individual demonstrates general support of the university, including through service, advocacy, philanthropy, etc.

Offices receiving this notice may independently solicit, collect and coordinate nominations at their MAU. The deadline for receipt of complete nomination packets, including application, resumes or C.V., and letters of reference is Dec. 6, 2013. Any material postmarked after midnight of the deadline date will be considered for the following year's prize. Nominations may be mailed or electronically submitted.
