UAA Professor Don Rearden's novel lauded with end-of-the-year accolades from 'The Washington Post'

What do Stephen King, Joyce Carol Oates and Thomas Pynchon all have in common? Their latest releases all made it onto The Washington Post's "Notable Fiction of 2013" list, along with The Raven's Gift by UAA Professor (and '05 M.F.A. alumnus) Don Rearden. Although Rearden's debut novel was released a few years ago, it recently received a wider distribution deal, helping it gain more widespread recognition and praise.
In the top-50 list, The Washington Post editors ask, "Why did no help arrive when everyone began to die? Something inconceivably dreadful has happened in remote Alaska, where a young, married couple has come to teach native children-but what? Rearden, a master of the cliffhanger, shifts between the blighted present and the happy past."
