CTC Associate Dean Cathy LeCompte

UAA Community and Technical College (CTC) Associate Dean Cathy LeCompte is the recipient of the 2013-2014 Alaska Association of Career and Technical Education (AACTE) Leadership Award. The association promotes and strengthens career and technical education for workforce development in Alaska.

The award is one of seven the association recognizes at its annual professional development conference each fall. Individuals are nominated by an association member and endorsed by three colleagues through letters of recommendation. Leadership award nominees are evaluated on their professional contributions, vision and efforts to improve career and technical education, as well as longevity of service.

In her role as the Community & Technical College's associate dean, LeCompte administers the College & Career Pathways program that leverages strategic partnerships between educators, businesses and the community to prepare high school students for college enrollment or workforce entry. Under her leadership, the college is working to build the framework to transform career pathways into dual-enrollment partnerships between the University of Alaska and secondary schools, making it possible for students enrolled in career pathways courses to earn college credit while still in high school.
