Have you ever been told by a healthcare professional that you:

  • Are at risk for getting diabetes?
  • Have prediabetes?
  • Have borderline diabetes?
  • Have high blood sugar or glucose?
  • Have gestational diabetes?

Leslie Shallcross, Cooperative Extension Service faculty and registered dietitian, will lead a Diabetes Prevention Program geared toward those at high risk for Type 2 diabetes interested in preventing or delaying the disease through lifestyle changes. This program includes 16 weekly sessions and six monthly follow-up sessions with a trained lifestyle coach. A year-long commitment to the program is required.

The first eight-week session will be held every Monday, March 31-May 19. Sign up for the 3-4 p.m. class or the 5:30-6:30 p.m. class. All classes will be held at the Anchorage District Extension Office, 1675 C Street, Suite 100. The cost for the program is $85.

For questions or to enroll, contact Leslie Shallcross at (907) 786-6313 or (907) 786-6300.
