What should you do during an earthquake?

by Michelle Saport  |

In the wake of Thursday morning's 6.24-magnitude earthquake, some employees have asked what they should do during a large earthquake. The Emergency Management office teaches that if you're inside, stay inside. If you're outside, stay outside. (You probably won't be able to run to another location anyway.) Then "Drop! Cover! And hold on!"

In countries with modern building codes, the majority of earthquake injuries result from falling debris. Covering your head and body by getting under a desk or chair will often be sufficient to keep you from getting hurt.
