Associate Professor of Social Work Kathi Trawver is receiving a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) G02 Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training award (BHWET) to increase the number of trained social work professionals to meet the behavioral health needs of Alaska's youth. The grant awards UAA $300,000 over three years to expand M.S.W. practicum internships in settings providing integrated health and behavioral healthcare to youth and transitional age youth who are risk of developing, or have developed, a serious behavioral health disorder and their families. Grant funds will provide $10,000 stipends to M.S.W. students completing internships in youth-serving integrated care settings. Additionally, grant funds will support recruitment of new and expansion of existing practicum sites, as well as provide funds for curriculum development in the provision of comprehensive integrated care.
