Free energy, emergency preparedness and housing workshops, Feb. 9–12

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service (CES) will host 10 free energy, emergency preparedness and housing workshops Feb. 9-12 in Anchorage and Eagle River.

The evening workshops will be taught by CES energy specialist Art Nash, CES agents Karen Petersen, Leslie Shallcross and Glen Holt, and Daisy Huang of the Alaska Center for Energy and Power.

Emergency preparedness and radon workshops will be offered Feb. 10 in Room 150A of the UAA Eagle River Campus (10928 Eagle River Rd.). The rest of the workshops will meet at the Anchorage CES office at 1675 C St. Topics for the Anchorage workshops include: rocket stoves, emergency preparedness for rural Alaskans, log cabin efficiency, and radon detection and mitigation (Feb. 9); heating with wood (Feb. 10); generating your own power and cutting firewood safely (Feb. 11); and private forest land management (Feb. 12).
