"Urban & Rural in Alaska: Community Engagement at UAA" is a conference and network for faculty, students and community members to engage in dialogue together.

The conference will begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and will include morning breakout sessions about community-engaged projects, with faculty, community partners and students presenting together in Rasmuson Hall classrooms. The day will continue with an extended lunch in the Student Union featuring rapid-fire presentations by faculty from across the curriculum involved with community engaged learning and research. The conference will conclude with community networking sessions centered around different issue areas, such as environment and public safety, youth and education, homelessness and substance abuse, arts in community, women's issues and community inclusiveness.

Community organizations will have tables set up 2-3:30 p.m. in the Student Union to network with faculty and students around new projects or research as collaborations to address community issues.

Presented by UAA Center for Community Engagement & Learning and co-sponsored by the University Honors College. For more information, visit the CCEL website.
