Apply to present a Seawolf Howl at the Student Affairs Annual Gathering

by Michelle Saport  |

Deadline to apply: April 6, 2015

Seawolf Howls are returning this year to the 2015 Student Affairs Conversation Café.

UAA's Student Affairs Conversation Café invites you to share your original ideas and empowering inspirations through Seawolf Howls at the annual gathering for student affairs professionals on May 8, 2015. These 10-minute talks will provide colleagues an innovative look at topics near and dear to student affairs and UAA. Seawolf Howls follow the engaging and dynamic format seen in TED talks. We invite you to take meaningful ideas related to the student affairs core themes and bring them to the front of the conversation. Visit the 2014 Conversation Café page to watch the Seawolf Howls from last year.

Seawolf Howls are meant to give UAA staff and faculty the opportunity to share 10-minute stories or ideas that motivate and inspire them and/or their colleagues to continue to do great work with students here at UAA and throughout the community. They are meant to bring us as a Student Affairs team back to center and remind us why we do what we do. Everyone has had a moment while working with students or even an inspiring colleague that keeps us on track to what really matters or lessons we have learned along the way. Take one of those moments and share it with the Student Affairs team at our Conversation Café on May 8, 2015. We want to hear your stories.

How to apply? It's easy!

  • Complete the online form no later than April 6 by providing us with your contact information, the title of your howl, the core theme(s) it connects to and briefly tell us why Student Affairs should hear your story. Complete form here.
  • Seawolf Howl must be connected to at least one of the Student Affairs Core Themes.
  • Seawolf Howl contributors must be a UAA employee, but can come from Student Affairs or beyond.
  • Once you submit your information, we will reach out to you and set up a time to have a brief 10-minute conversation about your Seawolf Howl, giving you the opportunity to describe your message to us in person.

Only three Seawolf Howls will be selected this year. Selected Seawolf Howl contributors will be notified by April 20.
