March 5, 2015: Cabin Fever Debates Final

by Michelle Saport  |

Thursday, March 5, 7-9 p.m. Fine Arts Building, Room 150

Please join us for the final round of the Cabin Fever Debates, UAA's intramural debating tournament.

The motion for the debate will be: "The United States Federal Government should apply a wilderness area designation to the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge."

Was Senator Murkowski right when she said that the USFG is waging war on Alaska? Can our oil resources be developed in culturally sensitive, environmentally responsible ways? Join us for a discussion of this important issue.

The Cabin Fever Debates are sponsored by the Seawolf Debate Program to encourage the development of critical thinking and advocacy skills among UAA students not active on UAA's competitive debate team. This year, more than 60 students entered the contest. Preliminary rounds throughout February identified 8 teams who advanced to semifinals. From the semifinals, the best four teams were selected to compete in the final round. These students are battle-tested and ready to argue for the $1,000 prize offered to the championship team.
