The UAA College of Engineering alumni chapter is excited to name the first two honorees to the College of Engineering Alumni Hall of Fame.

Sam S. Kito III, B.S. Civil Engineering '88, and Mike Fierro, B.S. Civil Engineering '89, M.S. Civil Engineering '01, will be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame as part of the ribbon-cutting celebrations for the new Engineering & Industry Building (EIB) on Sept. 10. Kito, a current state representative for Juneau, was an original staff member assisting in the startup of the Denali Commission, where he helped develop programs for funding infrastructure and economic development projects in rural Alaska. Fierro was lead structural engineer for the design of several UAA campus buildings, including the UAA/APU Consortium Library addition, ANSEP building, Health Sciences Building and even the new EIB.

The induction ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, following the ribbon cutting. Engineering alumni are invited to RSVP for both the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the Alumni Hall of Fame induction.
