Causey named interim executive director for UAA's Arctic Domain Awareness Center

Dr. Douglas Causey will assume the role of Interim Executive Director and Principal Investigator for the Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC) while the search for a permanent director continues.

As a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence, ADAC works collaboratively with 16 academic, institutional and industry partners to address emerging maritime challenges posed by the dynamic Arctic environment. ADAC is helping develop technology solutions, innovative products and educational programs to improve situational awareness and crisis response capabilities in the Arctic.

Dr. Causey, who has worked at UAA since 2006, is a Professor of Biological Sciences and Director of the Applied Environmental Research Center, housed in the Business Enterprise Institute.

The Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Helena Wisniewski, is the Founding Director of ADAC. She established ADAC in 2014 and served as its first Executive Director and Principal Investigator.
