Please join Student Affairs in wishing Eric Pedersen, associate vice chancellor for Enrollment Services, a fond farewell. After five years of service at UAA, Eric has accepted a position as the director of admissions at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash.

While at UAA, Eric fostered quality and efficient student-centered service. Under his leadership, UAA improved the One-Stop Student Information Center, an express service center that aids students with admission, financial aid, registration, records, veterans' assistance and international student services.

As related by Director of Admissions Cathy Ewing, "Eric spearheaded updating the admissions process to make it less bureaucratic, more accessible and to make applicants feel UAA was excited to have them attend. He supported the new Customer Relationship Management software purchase, which will allow UAA to be both high tech and high touch. He was a champion of reduced bureaucracy and strong communications."

In addition to his contributions to student services, Eric exemplified leadership through his membership on multiple committees, including the University of Alaska and Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education Cooperative Group as well as the University Strategic Enrollment Group. Eric also served as president of the Pacific Northwest Association for College Admission Counseling (PNACAC) and as member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) President's Council.

His leadership and advocacy for student-centered service will be greatly missed. Student Affairs wishes him the best in his new endeavors.
