Nov. 4, 2016: 'No Big Heads' reception in the Student Union
by Michelle Saport |
Self-portraits from the 31st annual No Big Heads competition are now on display at the UAA Student Union Gallery. Join the gallery for a First Friday reception Nov. 4, 5-7 p.m. to celebrate this year's artists and more than three decades of No Big Heads.
No Big Heads is a national juried self-portrait competition of limited size. This year's juror is Asia Freeman, a local artist based out of Homer who aspires to deepen the ways in which we can exchange and explore the arts as a shared language of a global community. Asia co-founded the Bunnell Street Arts Center, Alaska's longest-lived multi-disciplinary arts center. She has helped many artists emerge into their own voice through curating hundreds of exhibits, artist in schools, residencies and workshops.
All are invited to attend. Admission to the Student Union Gallery is always free. Parking at UAA is free on Fridays.
For more information, contact the Student Union Gallery at (907) 786-1219 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Unable to attend the First Friday reception? The exhibit will be on display though Nov. 16. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
