UAA professor Rebeca Maseda co-authored with colleagues from the University Jaume I of Castellón (María José Gámez Fuentes) and the University of Valencia (Emma Gómez Nicolau) the article, "Celebrities, gender-based violence and women's rights: Towards the transformation of the framework of recognition?" The article, which is accessible in both English and Spanish, has been published in Revista Latina de Comunicación Social (referenced by Scopus and Thomson Reuter, ESCI-WOS). This article analyses the possibilities of the actions performed by celebrities in the transformation of the limiting current framework of recognition of gender-based violence. The study proposes an analytical model based on the operationalization of the concept of "ethical witnessing" applied to the examination of the representational practices that may destabilize the current hegemonic configuration and re-signify the subject-victim relationship of violence. This article is part of a larger research project supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitivity ("The re-signification of women as victims in popular culture" (FEM2015-65834-C2-2-P).
