Global Entrepreneur in Residence Nigel Sharp

Nigel Sharp is UAA's first Global Entrepreneur in Residence.

Meet Nigel Sharp, UAA's Global Entrepreneur in Residence (GEIR), at the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce's "Make it Monday" forum on Aug. 7. The GEIR program is an opportunity for UAA to exponentially strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Alaska. Through the GEIR initiative, UAA will not only advance entrepreneurial mentoring, and related teaching with our UAA faculty, students and alumni, but also engage the community in a bridging dialogue to continue to advance the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Nigel Sharp is a resource for staff, students and faculty as well as the wider Alaska entrepreneurial community. Previously, he worked in the same capacity at the University of Colorado Boulder where he co-founded a university spin-out company that raised venture funding and was accepted into the Techstars business accelerator in 2017. In recent years, Nigel co-founded software companies working on technologies ranging from voice recognition and gesture control to IT network security. He has judged, mentored or organized 18 Hackathons/StartupWeekends, started businesses in six countries, participated in four business acceleration programs and spoken at TEDx.

The "Make it Monday" forum will be held at the Dena'ina Center from Noon to 1 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. General admission is $35. $30 for Anchorage Chamber members ($32 at the door), and $15 for students with a valid ID. Lunch is provided with admission. To register for the event, visit AnchorageChamber.org or call (907) 272-2401.
