  • Be team players and highly self-motivated.
  • Feel comfortable contacting community leaders and community members via email or phone and following up with in-person discussions.
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills, the ability to listen to feedback from a wide-range of people and summarize contributions.
  • Be creative with a collaborative working style.

Students from any program or department on campus should feel welcome to apply. Interest and experience in any of the following topics will strengthen an application: climate adaptation, city planning and development, health impacts of climate change, sustainable development, sustainable cities, community engagement, proposal development, science communication or environmental education.

How to apply: Interested students should send contact information for three references, a letter of interest, and current resume or CV to Dr. Micah Hahn, Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies, UAA, mbhahn@alaska.edu. Please explain how your experience and education prepare you for this work, how the work will advance your professional/personal goals, and why you believe the work is important. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and the position will be closed once two qualified students have been identified.
