Attention all students interested in research! BUILD EXITO now recruiting

by Michelle Saport  |

BUILD EXITO is now recruiting for its next cohort of scholars.BUILD EXITO is an undergraduate research training program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is part of a broad national strategy to develop new approaches that engage researchers, including those from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in biomedical sciences, and prepare them to thrive in the NIH-funded workforce.

BUILD EXITO offers a pathway to graduation and beyond with enriched science education, dedicated advising, opportunities for hands-on research experiences and financial support. Students who are accepted into the program will be trained, mentored and supported as a community of Scholars with the ultimate goal of preparing to solve important health issues through research in the biomedical and social sciences.

The BUILD EXITO program is for students who are passionate about solving health issues, addressing health disparities, and are interested in pursuing a degree in biomedical, behavioral, clinical, health, social or bioengineering research topics. To be eligible for the program, students must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen, resident alien or non-citizen national.
  • Have completed at least one year of undergraduate course work at a community college or university by the end of spring 2018 or by the fall of 2018.
  • Have three years remaining in their undergraduate degree program by the end of spring 2018 (i.e., applicants will NOT graduate prior to winter 2021 if on the quarter system, or spring 2021 if on the semester system).
  • Be enrolled full-time (12 credits) at a BUILD EXITO Consortium Institution in spring 2018 and fall 2018.
