2018 Great Alaska ShakeOut

Shake out. Don't freak out. UAA participates in earthquake readiness drill Oct. 18 at 10:18 a.m. Learn more about the exercise at ShakeOut.org.Thursday 10/18 at 10:18 a.m. is the next international earthquake exercise. UAA will be participating as part of the Great Alaska Shakeout. Listen for an announcement to go out to all Cisco phones on campus. Speakerphones should activate at 10:18 a.m. with a 68-second broadcast asking everyone to Drop, Cover and Hold On. Please take the exercise seriously and actually get under something sturdy when the event begins. Practicing even just once may help you remember what to do when the next big earthquake happens.

Finally, this is also an exercise of our emergency public address capability using the speakerphone function (emails, cell phones, texts and screen pop-ups will not be used during this exercise). If a Cisco phone does not activate during the event or the message isn't broadcast in its entirety, the issue should be reported to the IT Call Center at (907) 786-4646. Thank you.
