November is National Career Development Month (NCDM). UAA Career Exploration & Services is excited to present the following professional development opportunities this week:

Professionalism & Me Tuesday, Nov. 13, 5:30-7 p.m. Multicultural Center (Rasmuson Hall, Room 106)

The Multicultural Center and Career Exploration and Services are excited to present guest speaker, Ernesto Ventura, Recruiting & Retention NCO, for the National Guard, to discuss and examine professionalism and cultural diversity in the workplace.

Topics include:

  • Dressing professionally
  • Social media
  • Cultural diversity
  • Stereotyping in the workplace and more

Registration information: Space is limited. Make sure to save your seat by registering on Handshake: choose the blue "+RSVP for Event" button in the events section. Day of registration may be available at the door, but is not guaranteed without registration.

Federal Application Workshop for UAA and APU Students and Alumni Friday, Nov. 16, Noon-2 p.m. | Room location provided after registering Light refreshments provided

There are currently more than 150 open federal civilian positions in Alaska. Find out from a federal representative what they're looking for in your resume and application. No matter what career field you are interested in, we can help you write a resume that will help you put your best foot forward!

You will learn:

  • Effective ways to navigate USAJOBS.gov
  • Different resume formats and how you know which one is right for you
  • How to write strong bullets
  • How to write a federal cover letter

This event is co-hosted by UAA Career Exploration & Services and Alaska Pacific University (APU) Career Services. APU will be providing food during this event.
