Head here for a recap of the Board of Regents Jan. 18, 2019 meeting.

The University of Alaska Board of Regents will focus on cost effectiveness across the university system, approve a charter for the Board Governance Committee and hear important updates from the university president, chancellors and governance leaders at its one-day meeting Friday, Jan. 18 in Anchorage. The board will meet 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UAA Gorsuch Commons, Room 107. Board meetings also can be viewed online.

Cost-effectiveness is one of five strategic goals adopted by the board. The emphasis is to decrease the total cost of educating students as well as administrative expenses, and increase the rate of student completions and revenue coming into the university from philanthropy and public-private partnerships.

In November, the board approved a budget focused on investments that drive economic growth and innovation, produce Alaska's skilled workforce, grow world class research and discovery and expand knowledge and opportunity. Given the fiscal uncertainty of the university's budget request, the board will discuss how budget cuts might impact the university's mission to serve the state's needs and continue to contribute to our students' success.

A special meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Title IX will be held 8-9 a.m. in executive session. There is no scheduled public testimony nor public gathering for the January meeting.
