Message from Interim Provost Stalvey: UAA Middle College Programs

by Mariah DeJesus-Remaklus  |

Dear UAA Community,

I wanted to bring you some important updates on the UAA Middle College Programs. As you know, students from the Alaska Middle College School (AMCS) within the Anchorage School District (ASD) have been attending UAA classes on both the Chugiak-Eagle River and Anchorage campuses. The Middle College program allows qualified 11th and 12th grade ASD students to take up to 30 credits a year at UAA. With the closure of the Chugiak-Eagle River campus, students from the Alaska Middle College School will now be located on the Anchorage campus. I am also pleased to announce that Ms. Kim Griffis has accepted an appointment as the Interim Director of the UAA Anchorage Middle College Program. Ms. Griffis has been serving as the Chugiak-Eagle River Campus Director and administered the Middle College program on that campus since 2014. She also oversaw the UAA Military Programs on (JBER), opened and operated Fort Richardson Tutoring Center, and collaborated with UAA Testing Center to certify Testing and Proctoring Center on Elmendorf Air Force Base.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Ms. Griffis as the new Interim Director. Her office will be located in the Administration/Humanities Building, Room 211 and she can be reached at (907) 786-7601 and kagriffis@alaska.edu.

John R. D. Stalvey, Ph.D. Interim Provost
