Staff Council July Updates: New members and officers, plus budget updates

UAA Staff Council - July 11th Meeting Notes

• New Members: The Staff Council welcomed new members Brittani Chu, Elisa Mattison, Louise Butler, Nancy Johnson, Nolan Klouda, and Teri Jeffress.
• Staff Council Elections: The non-exempt hourly vacancies for Co-President and Co-Vice President were voted on. Dawn Humenik is the new non-exempt Co-President and Luis Chavez is the non-exempt Co-Vice President.
• Budget: The Staff Council had a roundtable discussion about the budget and personal advocacy.  Some concerns that were addressed were furlough, financial exigency, and proportional budgeting.
• Staff Council Retreat: The Staff Council Retreat is scheduled for August 1, 2019.

• Staff Council Resolution 2020-1 requesting meaningful staff involvement in upcoming budget decisions
• The Board of Regents met on Monday (7/15/19) and postponed their vote on Financial Exigency until July 30. They will be meeting in Anchorage 7/22 to further discuss the budget.
