Story as a Community Resource: Building Resilience through Personal Narratives A reading and talk with Mary Kudenov

Thursday, Oct. 10, 7-9 p.m. ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building, Room 120

Mary Kudenov is the author of Threadbare: Class and Crime in Urban Alaska. She is a proud first-generation UAA alumna, holding a Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in Creative Writing and Literary Arts. Kudenov was raised poor in Anchorage, writes about other people with similar backgrounds, and has received acclaim and awards for her nonfiction, most of which is set in urban and small-town Alaska. She currently lives in North Carolina with her husband and sons and works in the clinical research industry. This reading and talk will explore the uses of story for healing and community building. Please come support our first-generation students!
