Whitney Brown selected as director of Career Exploration & Services
by Bruce Schultz, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs |
Dear UAA Staff and Faculty,
I'm pleased to share with you that Whitney Brown has accepted the Career Exploration & Services director position, effective immediately. I'm confident that Whitney's experience engaging in community partnerships and outreach, connecting with UAA's academic deans and Anchorage business partners, and her demonstrated leadership to the Career Exploration & Services department as interim director means she will continue to serve our students well.
While interim director, Whitney has set the Career Exploration & Services department on a path toward transformation, focusing heavily on talent acquisition and contemporary program design. She possesses strong internal knowledge of UAA through her various progressive leadership roles within Student Affairs; roles through which she developed great knowledge and partnerships for workforce development and career development programming. I appreciate that Whitney's leadership drive has her regularly seeking out involvement and leadership on campus and community committees, such as her service on the Board for the Postsecondary Access and Completion Network, the UAA Accreditation Committee and the new UAA Strategic Planning Steering Committee.
Whitney brings a unique perspective and understanding of the value of mutually beneficial partnerships, hiring local and the economic impacts of workforce development in the community. Her strategic mindset and robust project management and organizational development experience will be valuable as we rebuild Career Exploration & Services.
I also wish to thank Cody Buechner and Chris Triplett for co-chairing the search committee, and Anne Lazenby, Shauna Grant and Sarah Shinstine for their valuable service as well. Collectively, they led a highly expeditious and positive search, for which I'm grateful.
Sincerely,
Bruce Schultz
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
