2020 Democracy and Civic Action Week: Request for Proposals

by UAA Center for Community Engagement & Learning  |

The third annual Democracy & Civic Action Week will be Sept. 14–19, 2020.

WE'RE GOING VIRTUAL!

Submission deadlines:

  • Early-dird due Aug. 15, 2020
  • Final call due Sept. 1, 2020

Events explore diverse perspectives about the role of democracy and civic engagement in the United States. Departments, programs, clubs and organizations across campus are invited to present a wide-range of online activities to engage both campus and community members in reflecting on their rights and responsibilities that are fundamental to creating a civil society.

This year’s theme is "Designing a Future for Democracy." Applicants are encouraged to take a broad interpretation of this theme as they develop their proposal.

Due to COVID-19, we will be holding the 2020 Democracy & Civic Action Week virtually! Events will span Monday, Sept. 14–Saturday, Sept. 19.

Events may be synchronous or asynchronous — although we encourage those who hold synchronous events to record for later viewing. We will be coordinating an ePortfolio to collect all recorded events in one easy-to-access location.

To see the entire range of past events, visit the Democracy & Civic Action Week website.

If you have questions, please reach out to planning committee co-chair Marsha Olson at maschirack@alaska.edu.
