Alaska FAFSA Completion Campaign

by Green & Gold News  |

UAA has teamed up with financial aid and postsecondary professionals across Alaska, The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) and the U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid (FSA) to create a statewide Alaska FAFSA Completion Campaign.

FAFSA noncompletion rates present an enormous opportunity because FAFSA completion is so strongly correlated with good postsecondary student outcomes. First, FAFSA completion is strongly associated with postsecondary enrollment: 92% of seniors who completed the FAFSA enrolled by the November following graduation vs. 51% who did not complete a FAFSA. Second, research has found that every additional $1,000 in grant aid per student increases postsecondary persistence rates by 4 percentage points.

There are two upcoming resource sessions for counselors on April 14, 11-11:30 a.m., and April 29, 3-3:30 p.m. for you to join on Zoom.

These 30-minute sessions will offer additional information about the FAFSA Completion campaign, state and federal financial aid resources, and the variety of ways students and families can access the support they need to complete the FAFSA.

Additionally, we have created a centralized Alaska FAFSA Completion website for you with updated information about:

  • Alaska FAFSA Completion Campaign events (virtual)
  • Downloadable FAFSA Completion & State of Alaska Financial Aid resources
  • And more!
