by Alaska Sea Grant  |

Alaska Sea Grant offers several paid fellowship opportunities for graduate students interested in marine science and policy. A free webinar on Friday, Jan. 14 at 3 p.m. Alaska Time will answer questions about these fellowships and how to apply.

The webinar will focus on two fellowships with deadlines in late early February:

1. The Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship provides a unique educational and professional experience to graduate students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. The fellowship, named after one of Sea Grant’s founders and former NOAA Administrator John A. Knauss, matches highly qualified graduate students with hosts in the legislative and executive branch of government located in the Washington, D.C. area, for a one year paid fellowship. Applications for the 2023 fellowship are due to Alaska Sea Grant by 5 p.m., Feb. 18, 2022.

2. The Alaska Sea Grant State Fellowship program provides an opportunity to acquire on-the-job experience in the planning and implementation of marine resource policies and programs in Alaska. The program matches highly motivated graduate students and recent graduates with hosts in Alaska-based organizations for a 12-month paid fellowship. Applications for 2022 Fellows are due Feb. 11, 2022 at 5 p.m. Alaska time.
