2022 Virtual Alaska Food Festival & Conference

by UAA Dietetics and Nutrition Program  |

Registration is open for the 2022 Virtual Alaska Food Festival and Conference. This year’s theme is “Everybody Eats: Nourishing Our Culture, Our Health, Our Future.” It opens with a pre-conference movie on Thursday, March 17, and the full conference runs Friday and Saturday, March 18-19. The four focus areas of this year’s conference are: Policy and Education, Production and Harvest, Culture and Community, and Business and Industry.

The event is hosted by the Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC) and co-sponsored by the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) and the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Dietetics and Nutrition Program.

New this year is a Tribal Youth Track, which is organized with support from IAC. Registration is free and open to all youth ages 10 through college age (select Youth/Student option during registration). The track focuses on creating engagement opportunities between youth across the state who are interested in all things related to food. Breakout sessions offer traditional and contemporary skill building, relationship development, and personal and professional resources to support continued educational, community, and career steps.

Depending upon the package, registration costs $40-$150. Through generous sponsorships from IAC and the Alaska Farmers Market Association, AFPC is pleased to offer a variety of registration scholarships available to youth participants, Indigenous participants, rural residents, and others who identify as low income or a person of color, to help offset costs of attending the virtual conference. This scholarship will cover the full registration fee. If you’re interested in a scholarship, please complete the scholarship form by Tuesday, March 1. There are a limited number of scholarships and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hope to see you there!
