March 24: Explaining Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

ISER and the UAA Department of Public Policy and Administration are co-hosting a seminar with Dr. Chad Briggs on Thursday, March 24, from noon-1 p.m.

Dr. Briggs will give an overview of the recent expansion of the war in Ukraine, including security and energy implications for the United States and Alaska. A Q&A will follow.

Dr. Briggs is formerly the director of Graduate Studies at UAA's College of Business and Public Policy, and has worked with NATO and the Ukrainian army since 2011 on hybrid and cyber warfare, including being based in Kosovo and Ukraine for 4 years before moving to Alaska in 2019. Briggs is currently the deputy chair for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. State Department's Foreign Service Institute, but will only be speaking in his personal capacity as a professor and researcher.
