Apply for the ANIROP Coordinator position in Residence Life
by Green & Gold News |
UAA's Department of Residence Life is now recruiting for the Alaska Native, Indigenous and Rural Outreach Program (ANIROP) Coordinator. The Department of Residence Life at the University of Alaska Anchorage provides students with a living and learning environment that supports each resident’s academic journey. ANIROP Coordinator plays a vital role in mentoring and supporting Alaska Native and Indigenous residents, as well as residents from rural areas. Residence Life seeks candidates eager to work with college students from diverse backgrounds and experiences as they navigate the collegiate experience. Beyond one-on-one connections with students, the ANIROP Coordinator manages the Cama-i Room, a social gathering place, educational center and space for all members of our community to learn about, practice and experience the history and culture of Alaska Native people. The ANIROP Coordinator works closely with Alaska Native-serving organizations, both on campus and in the community, to achieve the goal of supporting each Alaska Native and Indigenous student’s personal and academic success.
Candidates should have experience with and a passion for working with Alaska Native and Indigenous people. Candidates with experience working with programs that house their participants, especially in an educational context, will be well prepared to work with our diverse student population. Similarly, candidates with a background in behavioral health or social work will be able to assist residents in overcoming any challenges they encounter that create barriers to their success.
To ensure consideration, applications should be submitted no later than 11:55 p.m., Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT), on Friday, July 28, 2023 for inclusion in the initial review. The posting will be closed and no new applications will be accepted after 11:55 pm (AKDT) on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
