Finding Humanity in a Time of Crisis: A Conversation on Come From Away and the theme of Trust in Chaotic and Uncertain Times

Join Come From Away writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein along with UAA Professors E.J.R. David (Psychology), Terry Kelly (Philosophy), and moderator Joy Chavez Mapaye (Journalism and Public Communications) as they delve into the themes of the Broadway hit Musical "Come From Away."

"Art of Repair: Darning", Workshop Opportunity with Amy Meissner

Join artist, Amy Meissner, for an intimate workshop featuring the art of repair, with a focus on darning. Strong and portable, this craft practice, which uses a type of weaving to infill holes or reinforce worn areas by hand, is widely applicable to well-loved garments and textiles, from chunky knit sweaters to fine base layers, to socks, gloves and even torn mesh on backpacks or favorite running shoes.

Enrollment Service Center Closures

The Enrollment Service Center will be closing at 12 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 1 p.m. on Dec. 22. At the time of closure the phones will be turned off and the lobby will be closed.

Queer in the Workplace

Join us Wednesday Nov. 8 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. in the Pride Center for Queer in the Workplace, a chance to explore important topics surrounding LGBTQ+ experiences in the workplace. Co-hosted by Career Services and the Pride Center.

UAA announces new director of Native Student Services

Jason Hotch has been appointed UAA's next director of Native Student Services (NSS). As director, Hotch will be responsible for promoting student engagement, belonging and resiliency among Alaska Native, Indigenous and rural students, providing leadership, vision and support to the NSS team.

Please note that UAA General Support Services (Mailroom, Copy & Print, Surplus, Recycling) will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. There will be no afternoon mail routes this day. All FedEx must be received by 10:30 a.m. All other outgoing mail must be received by 11 a.m.

Ethan/ Kayaaní Lauesen's, "For My Comfort" Exhibition in Arc Gallery

Ethan/Kayaaní J Lauesen is a visual artist based in Fairbanks, Alaska. Their body of work focuses on their Denaakk’e Koyukon Athabaskan and Lingit cultural backgrounds, their queer identity, and how they are perceived in Alaskan communities.

Guest researcher is looking for a 2-bedroom apartment for spring 2024

I am currently looking for an apartment in Anchorage for me and my husband. I am a Ph.D. Fellow from the University of Tromsø, Norway, who will come to Anchorage as a guest researcher from early January until mid-May next year.
