Chancellor's Community Update
by Green & Gold News |
Dear UAA Community,
It has been a busy start to summer! I extend my heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome I received across our campuses. I am pleased to provide an update on the recent UA Board of Regents meeting, as well as the exciting things that have been happening at UAA this spring. I invite you to read the full update here.
At their meeting in Fairbanks, the Board of Regents approved the FY26 budget and advanced discussions about our university’s work in student recruitment, retention and graduation. The budget passed by the Legislature provides new funding for the university to cover rising fixed costs, compensation increases, deferred maintenance and strategic initiatives. Regents also passed a resolution honoring former Chancellor Sean Parnell and awarded Zac Clark, UAA associate director of Student Life, with the Staff Make Students Count Award.
I hope you are enjoying the summer season. As we begin looking toward the upcoming academic year, I want to thank you for everything you do on behalf of our UAA community. I am honored to serve as your interim chancellor and excited for what we can achieve together.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Siemers
UAA Interim Chancellor
