Archives and Special Collections

by Green & Gold News  |

The Archives and Special Collections is on the third floor of the UAA/APU Consortium Library. It has rare books, personal papers (including letters, diaries and photographs), and business records (including meeting minutes, board reports and correspondence) that document the history of Alaska.

Students and employees can access these items. Instructors can even consult Library employees on how to incorporate the Archives into their syllabus. Students, staff, faculty, community members and the world in general may use items in the Archives. Here are several ways students and employees can get involved:

  • Contact the Archives' employees for help starting a search. Archives employees can make suggestions, point toward topic guides, and show the ins and outs of the Archives.
  • Find collections using the search box on the website.
  • Book an appointment in the research room, plan a field trip, or arrange a classroom visit using the online form on the website or by calling the Archives at 907-786-1849.
  • Donate items to make accessible through the Archives.
