Upcoming Alaska Leaders Archive construction at the Consortium Library
by Green & Gold News |
Construction of the Alaska Leaders Archive at the Consortium Library is set to begin Monday, July 21, which will involve closing the Northeast Library Parking Lot and North Entrance. The Northeast Library Parking Lot and North Entrance are currently expected to remain closed through summer 2026.
During construction, the Consortium Library will be open and resources and services will be available. The Library building will be accessible through the Main Entrance at the south side of the building facing Providence Drive and through the Social Sciences Building (SSB). The outside Book Drop will be moved to the north side of the SSB to ensure easy return of materials.
The major public impacts will be as follows:
- The Library North Entry will be closed for ingress/egress, starting July 21
- The parking to the north of the library will be closed, starting July 21
- The East-West pedestrian sidewalk on the north side of the building will be closed, starting July 21
- The north-east section of the first floor will be closed, starting July 28. Areas on other floors near the project areas will have minor impacts/closures, but should have overall generally little additional impact.
- Students and the public will need to access the Library through the South-east "Main Entry" until late 2026
- UAA and the contractor will work to minimize disruptions as much as possible over the duration of the project, but building occupants should expect some amount of noise from the work being conducted inside and outside of the building.
