EDTL A620 Foundations of Instructional Design and Technology offered this fall

The School of Education will offer a fully asynchronous graduate course this fall—EDTL A620 Foundations of Instructional Design and Technology (3 credits)—designed for educators and professionals looking to expand their expertise in designing effective and engaging learning experiences.

The course runs from Aug. 25 to Dec. 13, 2025. Dr. Eric Belt, a senior academic innovation specialist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the President-Elect Designate for the AECT Division of Distance Learning, will teach the course.

Students will examine the core principles, theories, and methodologies of instructional design and technology while exploring the intersection of education, pedagogy, and emerging technologies. This course is especially relevant for:

  • Faculty transitioning into academia from industry or professional fields
  • Educators new to online teaching
  • Those seeking to fulfill UAA’s required faculty training for online instruction

Open to graduate students, including non-degree seeking.
