Seawolf Dining & Catering thanks UAA for a record-breaking Spirit Run

by Green & Gold News  |

Seawolf Dining and Catering is proud to announce the success of this year’s Spirit Run: Run Against Hunger. Thanks to a strong turnout and the generosity of the UAA community, Seawolf Dining raised $5,029.58, almost double last year’s $2,900, for the UAA Food Insecurity Fund on campus. More than 150 participants signed up and completed the three-mile run/walk, uniting in green and gold to take action against hunger on campus.

Hunger is a daily reality for nearly 45% of UAA students. For many, the Food Pantry and related programs are lifelines that make it possible to focus on learning, working and succeeding in college. By supporting the Food Insecurity Fund, participants help assist critical programs that ease the burden of students who are struggling to stay full.

Seawolf Dining extends their deepest gratitude to the presenting sponsor, The Alaska Rock Gym, as well as The Alaska Club, Skinny Raven Sports, Great Harvest Bread Co., Costco, The Odom Corporation, Kaladi Brothers and the UAA Alumni Association for their generous donations of prizes, food and support. Seawolf Dinig extends special thanks to The Alaska Club for donating a three-month membership, Great Harvest Bread Co. for providing cookies for the Seawolf Dining booth and Costco for supplying granola bars for runners.

The annual Spirit Run highlights the impact that happens when community comes together. No Seawolf should have to choose between putting food on the table and pursuing their education. Thanks to all the participation, UAA strengthened Seawolf pride and helped reduce food insecurity on campus.
