Seawolf Hall of Fame returning in 2027, nominations sought

University of Alaska Anchorage Athletics is reviving one of its finest traditions as acting director of athletics Tanya Pont announced Tuesday that the Seawolf Hall of Fame will induct another class in 2027.

Sidelined by former budget cuts and pandemic-related issues since 2018, the updated hall-of-fame process will begin with public nomination sought through March 31, 2026, and conclude with the induction ceremony in summer 2027.

Pont also announced that the induction ceremony will be held in conjunction with the inaugural UAA student-athlete reunion, encouraging all former Seawolves to gather in Anchorage for the festivities.

“We are long overdue in recognizing the best and brightest among our student-athletes and others who have contributed so greatly to Seawolf Athletics,” Pont said. “Along with establishing a periodic student-athlete reunion, our intent is to reestablish a regular induction cycle for the Seawolf Hall of Fame.”

Established in 2001, the Seawolf Hall of Fame currently features 56 inductees – 38 student-athletes, six coaches and 12 former administrators and supporters.

The new Seawolf Hall of Fame Committee is chaired by UAA associate media relations director Nate Sagan and features representation from all the Seawolves’ programs.
