UAA's Carpenter third at Utah Invite

Soldier Hollow, Utah – Corbin Carpenter led the University of Alaska Anchorage ski team with a podium finish in the 15-kilometer classic race at the Utah Invite Sunday.

Carpenter finished third in 36:43, 16 seconds behind race winner Mons Melbaye of Utah.

Hermod Bangstad finished sixth in 37:21, and Erling Bjornstad was 14th in 37:57.

Henry Skoensfjell was 21st (39:18), Parke Chapin 29th (40:32), Matt Seline 30th (40:58) and Ethan Eski 32nd (43:43).

Alexandra Otto was the top finisher for the UAA women placing 11th (45:13). Dashe McCabe placed 17th (46:29).

Erica Laven of Utah won the women’s race in 42:00.

UAA is currently sixth of nine teams with 206 points.

UAA will compete in the RMISA Alpine Qualifier Jan. 31 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
