Anchorage (Feb. 24) – After helping her team to a pair of dual victories, UAA’s Alexandra Karkowski has been chosen the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnastics Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

A balance beam specialist from Mount Prospect, Ill., Karkowski delivered scores of 9.75 in Thursday’s victory over Centenary and followed with a 9.7 in the rematch Sunday at the Alaska Airlines Center.

Karkowski has been the model of consistency on beam in her rookie campaign, scoring between 9.475 and 9.8 in all seven meets.

Karkowski and the Seawolves have this week off before finishing the regular season with meets at William and Mary, March 12 and 14 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Find live links at GoSeawolves.com.
