UAA faculty and staff cloud storage limits are extended through Nov. 1, 2026. To ensure a seamless transition, an automatic exemption has been applied to all faculty and staff currently over their storage limit. Beginning in Jan. 2027, faculty and staff using over 100 GB of cloud storage will be assessed and charged approximately $10 per year, per 100 additional GB. In late spring 2027 or by July 1, faculty and staff using between 20 GB and 100 GB of cloud storage will be charged approximately $5 per year. Storage rates are subject to change and will be finalized by the end of Oct. 2026, and at that time, faculty and staff can request additional storage. Faculty and staff who need additional cloud storage should work directly with their supervisors and departments to determine storage needs.

Additionally, emeritus employees currently over their limit will be granted an exemption beyond Oct. 1 and will follow the same phase-in of costs billed to the sponsoring department as the F&S. Faculty or emeritus faculty inadvertently missed by the exemptions can submit a request for additional storage via the UAA Information Technology Services (ITS) Service Portal to be added to the appropriate exemption group if they qualify per the above criteria.

Google shared drive limits and controls are still being developed by UAA ITS and will provide updates when available. You can read more about Google Workspace pages on UAA Chief Information Officer’s project announcements page.
