National Campus Safety Awareness Month 2018

Safety is a priority at UAA and will be celebrated during the month of September for National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM). NCSAM is an annual, collective effort across campus during September to provide programs and resources to promote campus safety to all campus community members. There is a broad range of programs to touch on different aspects of safety including personal safety, violence prevention, suicide prevention, alcohol education and safe consumption, and environmental safety. Campus partners involved in this effort include the Dean of Students Office, Residence Life, University Police Department, Student Health and Counseling Center, Environmental Health & Safety and Risk Management Support, The Northern Light and Safe Zone.
Evacuation Drills, Sept. 17-21

TNL Red Zone Launch Party, Sept. 20, 5-7:00 p.m., Student Union Den Play games and enjoy refreshments while raising awareness about the Red Zone, a time between August and November, when 50 percent of college sexual assaults happen.

Coffee with the Cops, Sept. 25, 8-10:00 a.m., Union Station Coffee Shop Ask a safety related question to a University Police Department ocer and receive a free donut and beverage of choice.

Glowga, Sept. 27, 7-8:00 p.m., Wells Fargo Sports Complex Dance Studio Blacklight glow-in-the-dark yoga, come and learn about resources for personal safety at night. Yoga mats are available with free glowsticks.

Flu Shot Clinic

At the end of September students, staff and faculty can walk into the Student Health & Counseling Center to request flu shots. Contact the Student Health and Counseling Center, for more information: 907-786-4040.

Campus Night Safety Walk, Oct. TBA

Meet with University sta and rst responders to walk the main campus to look for safety concerns and learn tips and strategies for safety at night along the way
