UAA Staff Council Updates Nov. 1, 2018 Meeting

Guest speakers

Larry Foster, Math Professor/Institutional Self-Study Tri-Chair Larry spoke about the accreditation visits in October. The review went well. The reviewers were impressed with UAA's inclusiveness and campuses. We will not be reaccredited until January. Work has already started on the next accreditation in seven years.

Maria Williams, Associate Professor, Alaska Native Studies/President Faculty Senate Maria Williams talked about low morale, moving forward, and optimism about the new chancellor. Faculty Senate does not feel that they are part of the decision making process and are hoping for some shared governance. The University Assembly is being suspended as well as PBAC. The Faculty Senate is thinking about new groups to bring leadership and replace the Assembly.

Chris Axtell, Messaging and Directory Engineer/Information Technology Services Chris gave a presentation on Microsoft Teams. More information about Teams can be found at the Information Technology Services website. Teams is available on all platforms.
