The Seawolf Debate Program is pleased to announce that registration for the 2020 Cabin Fever Debates, UAA's intramural debating tournament, is now open. Free to enter for any UAA student enrolled in at least six credits in the Spring '20 semester, the tournament offers the opportunity for students to practice their critical thinking and advocacy skills while competing to win over $2,000 in prizes.

According to the 2019 University of Alaska Campus Climate Survey, one in four UA students have experienced some form of stalking after enrolling in classes. To find out more information, stop by our table in the RH Lobby on Jan. 27, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

UAA Enrollment Services is looking for motivated team oriented individuals who combine outstanding customer service, organizational skills, and the ability to learn, understand, and relay UAA policy and procedures to current and future UAA students.

UAA Office of Admissions is seeking an Adult Learner Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator. This position will provide strategic leadership and tactical implementation of a new initiative that will focus on creating strong community and business ties to ensure an enhanced presence for UAA within Anchorage and the surrounding communities with a focus on recruiting and meeting the needs of adult learners and working degree-seekers.

Scott Keyes with Lincoln Financial Advisors will be on the UAA campus Monday, Jan. 27, and Tuesday, Jan. 28. He will be available to speak with employees about their retirement savings needs and goals.

On Jan. 18, U.S. Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham visited the UAA campus and met with Chancellor Cathy Sandeen to discuss the 2020 census and “drop the puck” at the UAA hockey game that evening.

Register today for this annual Winterfest tradition, where alumni and friends play across campus on two mini-golf courses designed by student clubs and university organizations, stretching from the Cuddy Quad to the clubhouse at the Alumni Center. Net proceeds benefit the UAA Alumni General Support Fund.

Associate Professor in UAA's College of Engineering LuAnn Piccard believes in the power of the journey. Her career trajectory has taken her from Silicon Valley, across the globe and back to Alaska to teach and inspire the next generation of engineering project managers.

Aviation grad Sarah Snell credits her time attending UAA and flying in bush Alaska for giving her the street cred that would prove useful in the aviation community beyond the Last Frontier, most recently helping her land helicopter piloting positions in Africa and Hawaii.
